I am a political scientist who is concerned with the tendency that governments seek to hide information from voters. Transparency is necessary in any democracy since voters cannot easily judge the performance of politicians unless they have access to all significant information that may influence their judgment. I believe that if censorship is tolerated in the first place, it can gradually become an accepted part of society and ultimately become an accepted part of life.
